yesterday
i met jesus in the zoo
gave him a corndog
we had a word or two
about this and that
wars and other facts
he told me

son you aren't alone
gotta keep keepin on

i met a girl
put her trust in her chest
some found gold in those hills
while she swallowed her dozen pills
well she will be missed

had a long ol' chat with mr. satan
about the rent he was makin
bills and debits and shiny coins
for your soul he'd gamble
till he'd got you by the loins

he told me how picasso was a genius
and he don't see any of that in us
oh not today
the devil scoffed to say
his black coal breath
burned my cold white head

i left the bench where i sat
and the devil he went flat
a trick of the light
divided by shapes
his black wings took flight

walking by the windows my reflection was sick
as if the blood i had
the devil had pricked
and i was drained

but hopefully my soul remains
safe and sound bright through the fog
because i fed jesus a corndog
